
The new Elyria High School encompasses more than
317,000 SF that includes renovation of the historic 39,780 SF Washington Building and the addition of 277,251 SF to house 1750 students, essentially creating a new school.
Total cost for the project is estimated at $71,694,105.
Phase 1 was completed in time for the opening of
school in 2010, and Phase 2 opened in 2011.
The expansive new school features state-of-the-art academic spaces, science and technology labs and media center as well as two student-designed internal courtyards. Doors
in the art and science classrooms open into the courtyards which are being used for instruction and hands-on learning.
An additional component of the program is a performing arts auditorium that seats 850.
