Regency Construction Services, Inc. served as Construction Manager at Risk to construct the addition and renovation at The University of Akron College of Business Administration which includes conference rooms, administrative offices, flexible learning labs, and classrooms.
Regency served as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Anthony J. Alexander Professional Development Center, an addition and renovation project for The University of Akron College of Business Administration that creates a welcoming and striking centerpiece for the urban Akron campus.
The Center provides the College of Business Administration with a unified space for teaching and advising, as well as new event space for the University. The project consisted of constructing and integrating approximately 15,000 SF of new construction with the existing facility. Scope included constructing a large, combined classroom/multi-purpose space, a flexible learning lab, offices for student advising, an endowed director’s suite and a learning commons space that provides students with study and lounge areas that were unavailable in the original facility. The addition is covered in a rain screen façade built using fiber cement panels sourced from Germany that are designed to mimic sandstone.
Regency’s preconstruction team played a key role in the design of the building, using cost and feasibility studies to identify the most economical site for the addition. In addition to managing the construction overall, self-performed work on this project included rough carpentry, blocking, installing toilet accessories, and partitions.
This project won the 2020 AIA Cleveland Chapter Architecture Merit Award.
