Regency Construction Services, Inc. served as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Kuhlin Center renovation and addition for the College of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University. The project created classrooms, seminar rooms, radio and television studios, and editing spaces.

Regency served as the Construction Manager at Risk for a complete renovation and addition at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) South Hall. The Kuhlin Center now serves as a state-of-the art space to house the School of Media and Communication and an ultimate centerpiece for the campus.

Program spaces include classrooms, seminar rooms, and cutting-edge laboratories including radio and television studios, a media convergence lab, editing suites, and a sound-effects studio. Two entrances were renovated, one with large, sound-rated windows that allow the community to see the television and radio studios as well as a wall of flat screen televisions playing live news feeds.

Top of the line acoustics were installed throughout the building, with similar treatments found in top media newsrooms around the world. Requiring strict attention to detail, each room was a “room within a room,” requiring up to three wall assemblies and glass testing to maintain a precise decibel inside and outside each room.

Prior to the renovation, extensive abatement and demolition made room for a wide variety of technological systems. After upgrading the required infrastructure, Regency managed a specialty vendor to complete the studio “upfit” who installed high-tech broadcasting cable, network systems, and sound/production equipment.

This project is certified LEED Gold.
