Regency Construction Services, Inc. served as Construction Manager at Risk for Saint Joseph Academy to transform ten classrooms into a Makerspace area housing a computer lab, 3D printers, kilns, laser cutters, and wood shop materials.
Regency Construction Services, Inc. served as the Construction Manager at Risk to renovate and create a Makerspace at Saint Joseph Academy (SJA). The renovation of Fitzmaurice Hall created new learning spaces for students, giving the school the opportunity to repurpose ten classrooms in their existing building to expand their existing Makerspace. The space houses 3D printers, sewing machines, laser cutters, and wood shop materials to support their curriculum.
The renovation included a new HVAC unit, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades, infrastructure for two new kilns, and new restrooms. Interior renovation consisted of new partition walls, paint, drop ceilings, interior storefront glazing, and access control.
Regency self-performed the carpentry on this project. Our carpenters were responsible for doors, frames, hardware, and finish carpentry. During the renovation, they salvaged all of the existing wood trim, base, and wainscot from walls being demolished. At the end of the project, these items were installed on new walls wherever possible.
In conjunction with this project and the Fitzmaurice Hall Renovation, Regency conducted a “Construction Academy” for SJA students to learn about the building program and the roles and responsibilities of the professionals working on the project. Our goal is to expand the pipeline of students pursuing the construction industry.
