Regency served as the Design Builder for the new 55,883 SF Columbiana Full-Service Maintenance Facility. The project scope consisted of constructing several new and larger buildings to replace an outdated facility for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), expanding the Columbiana location’s overall capacity. These facilities were constructed on the same site as the existing facility, which was eventually demolished once the new buildings were in service.

The main building, which is a pre-engineered metal building, includes vehicle storage, a wash bay, mechanics bays, a welding bay, and administrative offices for full time staff. The concrete in this building included an additive called silica fume which is a densifier that helps make concrete more durable and lessens the likelihood of erosion from salt water that drips off the trucks.

Other buildings Regency constructed on the campus include a Salt Storage Building, Materials Building, and Cold Storage Building, which were all pre-engineered fabric structures. Constructing these facilities as fabric structures allowed them to house larger equipment and provided more room for storage. The facility also included an Outdoor Fueling Station and an area for Brine Mixing. The Salt Storage Facility was turned over early for use while we completed the other buildings onsite.

The property included contaminated soils as well as protected wetlands, so Regency worked with ODOT to manage extensive remediation procedures and install erosion control measures to align the property with current environmental standards.
