Regency provided Design-Build services to the Cleveland Metroparks for the replacement and related improvements to the RainForest Dome at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The project's scope included removing the existing dome and replacing it with a high-quality, multi-layer, transparent, lightweight, structural, and durable pneumatically-prestressed Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) foil cushion system and structural steel super structure. In order to provide more room for animal enrichment, new steel netting was attached to the steel super structure providing a larger space for the orangutan exhibit. Design-Assist was utilized for both the ETFE Roof System as well as for the new exhibit netting. 

Special attention was taken to ensure that the existing rainforest building and animals were secured and weather tight while the dome structure was replaced, as the lower floors remained occupied during the construction. The removal of the animals below the dome was coordinated with the Cleveland Metroparks’ animal staff as required.
