Regency served as General Contractor at Risk for the Louise C. Stokes Scholar House project, managed by CHN Housing Partners with United Way of Greater Cleveland coordinating wraparound services. Other key partners include the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Cleveland State University (CSU), and Step Forward.
As the first of its kind in the Cleveland area, the Louise C. Stokes Scholar House aims to remove barriers to economic opportunity and support educational success by providing affordable housing and wraparound services for adult college students and their children. Located within walking distance of CSU and Tri-C, the two- and three-bedroom 40-unit building includes a daycare, study space, computer lab, common space for parenting classes and family activities, laundry rooms, three-stop elevator, gender-neutral handicap accessible restrooms, as well as child play space. Rental support, high-quality childcare, academic support, counseling, and resident services are also provided by the project's team of partners.
The development is located on the north side of Community College Avenue, between East 28th and East 24th Streets in Cleveland. The project was funded in part by a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) award from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, with additional financial support from the City of Cleveland and other local organizations.
